Amber David

Mommy Taxi | Pediatric Nurse | Artsy not Craftsy

I am a longtime Seattle girl and am blessed to be married to Andrew David, who God had to bring 12 and a half time zones from India in order to find me a match. We live in Sammamish with our 3 sons, Matthew 17, Isaiah 13, Zachary 11 and our splash of pink and sparkles, Gracie 8.

First, you should know that I am (perhaps ridiculously) passionate about God’s Word and seeing us as women truly grasp the power and strength that is there for us when we put Him first. I love to see the Lord work in our women’s studies and I know our enemy loses many a foothold on Tuesdays when women sit around tables, learn from and encourage one another.

I can still clearly remember accepting Jesus as my Savior as a wee little thing, but God really got my attention in my elementary years when I struggled with learning disabilities and was moved to the “special” class. My parents told me God had a plan for my life and for my time in those classes. I was given the beautiful gift of beginning to look for my value in God’s plan and not in my own accomplishments. There have been other struggles along my path and many blessings as well which I will share as we go along.

My husband and I have worked in Adult Ministries at CBC for 20 years now as Sunday Community Group leaders and also have a heart for and involvement in missions. In my spare time (what is that!) I enjoy drawing and painting and work very part time as a pediatric telephone triage nurse.

Book Lover | Seahawk fan | Bible Student

I have been leading Precept upon Precept classes since 1979. We started with four women and me around our dining room table. Then in 1980 I was encouraged to lead a Precept Upon Precept class at Crossroads Bible Church, where we have continued to hold the study.

Along with leading the Precept class, I taught the Seahawk Football Wive’s Bible Study for 27 years and the Mariner Baseball Wive’s Bible Study for 28 years. And my husband Chuck and I were co-Chaplains for the University of Washington Football Team for 6 years in the 1980’s.

My Sweetheart Chuck went to heaven on December 12, 2013. We were married almost 59 years. Together we taught Marriage Conferences across the United States and Canada. We co-authored“Incompatibility: Still Grounds for a Great Marriage” and Chuck wrote “Men Some Assembly Required” and “The Way to a Woman’s Heart.” “Incompatibility: Still Grounds for a Great Marriage” and “The Way to a Woman’s Heart” are now e-books. We have three great children and six exceptional grandchildren. (Of course!)

Let me clarify that last one. I do not wear a tight-fitting leotard or engage in hands-on grappling with others on a mat. (Whew!) But I DO find myself eyeball to eyeball with God’s word, striving to understand what He wants to teach me... to the point of feeling like I’m wrestling with everything I’ve got in my spirit. It’s exhausting and incredibly rewarding! I can relate to Jacob in Genesis 32, not wanting to yield until I receive the blessing! There is nothing in life better than experiencing that joy of discovery when God finally reveals something new to you through His word. This is why I am so excited to be journeying with other women this year through a study specifically focused on developing my “wrestling” technique! I anticipate that this study will be uniquely & personally rewarding like no other I’ve done. Join me!

I grew up in church. It was part of my family routine. It was a good routine and I’m eternally grateful for that foundation! But I was 30 before I realized that there is SO much more than that routine. As mysterious as it is, there is a very personal and alive relationship to be had with Jesus Christ right now. He has things to share with us that are immensely life-giving. I am amazed by the power and joy that His Word brings to my life. It really is a book full of Good News!

My husband Robert and I have been married for 23 years and have two daughters, Cora (16) and Wren (12). After living in Dallas for nearly 40 years, God brought us up to the PNW two years ago. We’re loving the mountains and lakes and eagles… oh my! What a gift to live in such a majestic corner of God's creation! I used to be an art director at an ad agency and still do a little graphic design work. In my down time, you might find me gazing at something beautiful outdoors, cheering at our daughters volleyball games or drinking milk tea & eating a bubble waffle. Yum.

Momtographer | fluent IN Spanglish | always looking for reasons to smile

My name is Gaby and I’m so excited to be part of the Crossroads family and of Women’s Ministries! I say this because not even in my wildest dreams would I have expected to be where I am today. I’m originally from Caracas, Venezuela (which is really, really far away from Washington State!) and moved to the United States when I was 18. Before moving to Bellevue, I lived in Florida for 13 years and it was there where I met my husband Daniel (who is originally from Brazil) and where our two daughters Bianca and Amanda were born. While I have great memories of growing up in South America and of my life in the sunshine state, our family hasn’t had a problem transitioning to living in the Pacific Northwest. We love the landscape, the changing of the seasons and the cultural diversity we encounter in this place we now call home.

I didn’t grow up in the evangelical church. But as I look back, I can see clearly how God was after my heart even as a little girl growing up in Venezuela. While I knew about God back then, I didn’t really know Him in a personal way, and I didn’t know of His deep love for me. That changed many years later during a time of struggle, self-reflection and pain. A time when I had no other choice but to trust that His plan would always be better than mine. And I’m so glad I did! This is why I’m both honored and humbled that I get to share with other women how the God of the Universe changed my life.

Besides teaching at CBC, I’m a photographer and an artist. When I’m not shooting for clients, I spend lots of time documenting my family’s everyday moments with my camera, which also makes me a “mom”tographer.

I look forward to meeting you and learning more about God alongside you as we all seek to know Him more.

Jungle Lady | Duct Tape Queen | Dark Chocolate Lover

I was raised in a Christian family and received Jesus Christ as my personal savior at the age of seven. As I grew in her faith I felt the Lord calling me to be a missionary. I served with Wycliffe Bible Translators for twelve years in Brazil and then in Papua New Guinea. While on furlough I met and fell in love with Dan. We have been married for 30 years and the Lord has blessed us with one son, Jason who is 27 years old. I am passionate about missions and knowing and living out God's Word. I also love studying the Bible and encouraging women to grow in their knowledge and love for God. I enjoy fitness, reading, gardening, fishing and spending time with my family.

converted sports mom |DQ Blizzard lover | Christmas movie fanatic

I am a true Pacific Northwester at heart and after spending a few years in sunny Florida and California, I couldn’t help but return to the beloved rain and grey. I managed to snag a gem of a man, Steve, and have three beautifully strong-minded children: Zach (18), Natalie (14), and Matthew (10). Needless to say these angels take after their mother more often than not, so our household never lacks in chaos and laughter. I wouldn’t have it any other way. In my 5 minutes of free time, I enjoy dinners out with my peeps, kids’ sports games, music, and watching Seinfeld with Steve after the kids go down.

After years of chasing empty pursuits, at 23 I witnessed God’s astounding mercy through His relentless pursuit of this former prodigal child. That mercy compelled me to give over control of my life to Him, and life has never been the same. Having tasted the goodness of God I can say with certainty: He is worth it. Gripped by the love of God, I have a burning desire for those who’ve walked a similarly broken road to experience a life truly lived in fullness of freedom, joy, and satisfaction that come only through surrender to Jesus Christ.

Long-distance Grandma | World Traveler | Avid Shopper

I grew up in Prince Edward Island, Canada and now live in Sammamish with my husband, John. We have two children: our daughter Jenn who is married to Chris and live in Miami along with our granddaughter Grace and grandson Theo, and our son, David, who lives in Anchorage.

I have been a member of CBC since 2005 and enjoy serving in the Welcome Ministry and as a Deaconess. I received Christ as my Lord & Savior after 37 years of searching for what was missing in my life. I am a passionate student of the Bible and have been a leader in Bible Study Fellowship for many years. I have been active in Tuesday morning and evening studies at CBC.

I enjoy reading, traveling, decorating and especially family get-togethers!

Lynn Possing

adventurous | truth seeker | never bored

I am a Midwestern girl at heart, born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. I met my husband Denis for the first time when I was in 5th grade, but of course I never imagined I would marry him until 18 months before it happened.  Life surprises us, doesn’t it? We have been married for almost 30 years and have four wonderful children – Miles, Mason, Adam and Gabi. And I cannot leave out our dog, Rocky. Life would not have been the same without him!

Through job opportunities given to my husband, our family has had the amazing (and life-altering) experience of living for extended periods of time in far away places like Switzerland, Dubai and China. I’m thankful for those rich experiences, although there were challenges that came with the blessings. We love to travel, learn about new cultures, eat interesting foods and try new things. Our current project is the renovation of our RV. We are transforming it from “decoration disaster” to “posh hotel on wheels.” If our plan works out, we’ll soon explore some fascinating places right here in the US of A ... and we’ll do it in style.

I met Jesus for the first time when I was 9 years old. A neighbor invited my sister and me to go to Vacation Bible School at her church, and our mother was more than happy to unload us for a few days. I asked Jesus to come into my life during that week. Long story short, my parents both ended up asking Jesus into their lives as a result of our neighbor’s invitation. My family was radically and permanently changed. Many, many bumps and storms were to follow, all serving to bring me up close and personal with the only thing that could satisfy my soul --- Jesus. I love to spend time with God in His Word. NOTHING can compare to the thrill of knowing Jesus.

Book-a-holic | Art lover | Dutch licorice connoisseur

My growing-up years include hometowns in Huizen, The Netherlands, Franklin, Tennessee and Whittier, California, where I met my husband Daniel of almost 30 years. He then brought me to my longest-lived-in hometown, Bellevue, Washington in 1994. We have four great children, Jacob (25), Luke (23), Emma (20), and Kallie (17). Right now, we enjoy having them all close by.

We found CBC soon after moving to Bellevue and have been here ever since. I jumped into Tuesday morning Bible study right away and have been hooked from the beginning! I’ve also enjoyed involvement in Women’s Ministries events, both as a volunteer and on staff for four years. It was through Bible study, especially inductive Bible study, that I learned to love the Word of God. I love encouraging others to engage in the worth-while endeavor of reading and studying the Bible as well! This is a journey I have never regretted!

Another journey I was on this last year was one through breast cancer. I experienced God’s love and care for me in new ways and am so thankful for the healing He provided me. I am learning to embrace anew Proverbs 31:25, “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future,” as I have learned to trust God and find contentment in new ways.

When I have free time, you will find me spending it with family and friends, reading, quilting, perusing art galleries (wishing for an unlimited budget), and pursuing other creative activities. If I have a free weekend, I love to travel to Portland, home of Powell’s, one of the best bookstores around!

California Girl | Traveler | Happy Wife & Mamo

I live in Redmond with my husband and best friend, Paul. We have 4 adult children - Angie, Jess, Michelle and Amy and 3 wonderful son-in-laws, Troy, Erick and Tyson. We also have 7 beautiful and very active grandchildren from age 20 down to age 6. We feel very blessed to have all our children’s families living close by.

I was raised in the San Francisco Bay areas and accepted Jesus as my savior at age 9 at a Billy Graham Crusade. As a young adult I moved to Washington and began attending Crossroad Bible Church in 1973. I was mentored by 2 precious older women of faith who helped me go deeper into God’s word. In those early years I also attended classes at Cascade Bible College. Since then I have served as a deaconess, retreat coordinator, Bible study teacher, several years as a Bible study table leader, a mentor, attending the Titus Two training, and in the Team3 children's programs at Crossroads.

I enjoy spending lots of quality time with my family, traveling, praying with my friends the “Garden Girls”, scrapbooking, reading, playing Sudoku and beating my husband at video games!

Sharon Allen

100% Irish | Blood Group=Tea positive | Book lover

Born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with the notion that all missionaries resided on the continent of Africa. At the age of 16, we immigrated to Johannesburg, South Africa, where I trained as an RN and Midwife, meeting and marrying Paul, that’s almost 33 years ago. We have been blessed with 4 fabulous kids, plus 2 great young men through marriage and let me not leave out my wee grandson, Kieran of 18 months.

We arrived in the States in November 1996, and came to Crossroads one week after our arrival here. Women’s Bible study and the influence of older women have always played a major role in my life here and God used this to fall in love with Him deeply, discovering the many facets of His character through scripture and the deep desire to learn through my love of reading, especially the classic Christian authors. Life has come with many struggles, but God has used these weaknesses to strengthen and for His purposes, opening doors to share with others the power of God’s Word and how it, without any doubt, addresses all areas that pertain to our daily lives and allows us to have victory through Jesus Christ.

The best times are spent lingering over a freshly brewed pot of tea with friends, combine this with reading, classical music and perhaps a spot of quilting. Empty nest syndrome in the Allen Home is an urban myth, as much time is happily spent with our married kids and those still at home and one day per week with wee Kieran. God has blessed us abundantly in the States and for this we are truly thankful.

“flegan” a flexible vegan | curly girl |  devoted friend

At CBC I am often introduced to people as “Steve Allen’s wife”. So, I just thought I should get that out of the way right off the bat in this bio. (smile) In addition to being “Steve’s wife”, (which by the way is someone I am proud to be) I am mom to four young ladies; Kamryn (20), Bradyn (18), Julia (16), and Jojo (11).

I am a Bellevue girl, a graduate of “Hot Tub High” (Bellevue High School), as it was known back in the 90’s. My spiritual roots are also here in Bellevue. I asked Jesus to come into my life at a neighborhood 5 day club at the age of 5. I was raised in a Christ-honoring home and was fortunate to attend a Christ-honoring church throughout my youth.

Walking with Jesus has been a great adventure. The past ten years of this adventure have been painful and intense. I have been broken, but I am also being mended. I know that the Lord is bringing me into a new season, and no one is more surprised than I am to discover that this new season includes teaching women’s Bible Study. I am shocked, EXCITED, and terrified, all at the same time. God’s love and His Word have sustained me, convicted me, and held me. I look forward to growing in relationship with the women of CBC and pray that we will be able to sharpen one another.
